Dan Cooper's new Tegeler-only Mastering Setup
After mixing and mastering "in the box" over the past 10 years, Dan Cooper of Production Expert has switched to a hybrid setup in recent months. In his video he shows his new analog mastering chain, consisting of the Schwerkraftmaschine, EQP-1 and Creme.
The digital remote controllability of the Schwerkraftmaschine, as well as the digital recall sheets for the EQP-1 and the Creme, now allow the units to be perfectly integrated into his digital workflow.
Based on a grunge song, he demonstrates the sound possibilities of his Tegeler collection in this mastering setup.
The mix bus chain is as follows:
- The Schwerkraftmaschine:
"I use The Schwerkraft Maschine as my first stage of compression. The side chain control is a great tool to stop unwanted pumping effects that can be caused by low-end energy hitting the threshold." - EQP-1:
"I use this to sweeten the tone of the mix bus after the Schwerkraft compression." - Creme:
"This unit is very transparent, no colouration is added when the unit is on. The compressor helps to boost the overall loudness without artefacts, the basic low and high EQ helps to add that final level of shine. I use The Creme in "Comp into EQ" not "EQ into Comp" as the EQ section sounds more open after the compressor."
