Gordon Raphael is a record producer and musician from Seattle, who is currently living in Berlin. He is most widely known for his work with The Strokes, whom he met while attending one of their shows at Luna Lounge, New York City. He produced their debut EP ‘The Modern Age’, as well as their first two albums ‘Is This It‘ (which was voted best album of the decade by NME in the UK and number 2 best of the decade in USA by Rolling Stone) and ‘Room On Fire‘.

Gordon is mostly known as a music producer thanks to The Strokes, but also for his work for Regina Spektor, Skin (of Skunk Anansie), Ian Brown, Ian Astbury and many more. He currently works at the Schaltraum Studio Berlin, which belongs to Tom Schwoll, where bands like the Beatsteaks, die Toten Hosen or Selig recorded their songs. During his work for the Italian number one rock ‘n roll band ‘I Ministri’ he send us some pictures and some honest words.

“There is a lot of Tegeler Audio Manufaktur equipment in the studio and I'm really enjoying it a lot, for great tone and fantastic compressor sounds.”

“I'm kind of falling in love with the Vari-Tube Recording Channel, The Classic Equalizer EQP–1 and the Magnetismus 2!”

“I also just assembled probably the most modern recording set up in all of Berlin, featuring a brand-new MacPro six core, HDX ProTools and all the classic Neve and Telefunken preamps that I have in my studio already! I also have a very large collection of analog synthesizers, including Arp 2600, Arp Odyssey, Mini Moog model D, MemoryMoog, Micro-Moog, Hammond A-100 organ, Prophet 10, and my favourite a: Solina String Ensemble and EMS Synthi-a – but I would be very happy to receive one version of each of these pieces of equipment for my studio from your company!”

”Tegeler all the way!“

We would like to say thank you very much - Gordon - for those honest words and the fantastic work on the potentially next Italian number one album from ‘I Ministri’, recorded by Gordon with Tegeler Audio Manufaktur equipment! (Pictures © Gordon Raphael)
